Welcome
Thank you for your interest in joining us here at West Northamptonshire Council.
We are one of the UK's newest unitary authorities, created four years ago as part of the largest local government reform in Northamptonshire for nearly 50 years.
This gifted us a rare opportunity to embark on a fresh start for shaping better public services across our area – work which is guided by our bold vision is to make West Northamptonshire a great place to live, work, visit and thrive.
With an annual budget of around £430 million pounds and a dedicated workforce of almost 3,000 colleagues, our focus is on working with our partners and communities to create a place of inclusivity and opportunity where people are proud to live healthy, independent, prosperous and self-sufficient lives.
Everything we want to achieve relies on us having well-equipped, talented and highly motivated workforce that can work flexibly in the heart of our communities. So perhaps our most important work so far has been developing our greatest asset, and that's our people - bringing together colleagues from our four previous authorities and working hard to develop a culture of openness.
Key to this has been embedding our organisational values of trust, high performance, respect, innovation and value and empowerment that enables our colleagues to thrive.
We believe we've made a great start as a young local authority, but we know we cannot stand still and there's still much more that needs to be done.
And that's why I’m looking forward to working with our new Executive Director of People Services and Director of Public Health to achieve our vision for a thriving West Northamptonshire.
